Volunteer Opportunities

Requirements for Volunteers

• Should be at least 18 years old
• Report to the Operations Manager if there are any questions and concerns before volunteering
• Present a friendly and welcoming manner
• Be dependable and punctual, including communicating at least 2 hours before the event if you have an emergency come up
• Be comfortable handling cash, checks, and credit card transactions if applicable
• Must adhere to any policies, COVID or otherwise set forth by the Arts Council

Art on the Mall

We are looking for volunteers for Art on the Mall 2025 to help this epic event run smoothly for the artists and the community! Volunteers are vital in helping with event set-up, clean-up, traffic monitoring, and assisting artists. Year after year, returning volunteers say that this is one of their favorite events of the summer! Several different time slots are available each day. The 2026 opportunities are available HERE!

Art Hop 

Be part of Art Hop and help power one of Kalamazoo’s most vibrant community events. Volunteers are needed before, during, and after Art Hop nights on:

• March 6
• May 1
• July 10
• September 4
• November 6
• December 4

Each Art Hop offers a variety of ways to get involved. Whether you are welcoming guests as an Art Hop Ambassador, supporting artists with sales, helping visitors navigate the online brochure, assisting with setup and takedown, or coordinating signage across downtown, your role directly shapes the experience for artists and thousands of patrons.

By volunteering, you extend the reach of the Arts Council of Greater Kalamazoo and help ensure that every Art Hop is welcoming, organized, and impactful.

Volunteer roles may include:

• Hosting in galleries or venues
• Supporting artwork sales at the Westin Gallery at the Arts Council
• Assisting patrons and artists with the Art Hop brochure website
• Tracking attendance at event locations
• Delivering and collecting event signage

Concerts in the Park Volunteers

Concerts in the Park is a Sunday Concert Series presented by the Arts Council of Greater Kalamazoo in Bronson Park. Volunteers are asked to help set up supplies, tents, and tables at Bronson Park. During the event, volunteers assist with providing information and clarification to patrons, including passing out brochures and answering basic questions about the event.

Duties Include: 

• Greeting guests
• Working knowledge of the Concert Series and ability to answer questions about Summertime Live and its partners
• Keeping count of concert attendance in Bronson Park
• Passing out provided Summertime Live and Arts Council brochures
• Assisting in packing, and setting up signs at the beginning of the event and breaking down equipment at the end of the event
