Svetlana Stone, Soprano
Soprano Svetlana Stone and pianist Wilson Casallas present an exclusive preview of their forthcoming classical album, celebrating music across cultures and traditions.
ABOUT THE PROGRAM
My Favorite Things is the debut classical album of Latvian-born lyric soprano Svetlana Stone, created in collaboration with Colombian pianist Wilson Casallas. Recorded at LaLuna Studio in Kalamazoo, Michigan, the multilingual album brings together art songs, opera arias, folk-inspired repertoire, musical theatre, and solo piano works from Europe, Latin America, and the United States.
Blending beloved works from the classical repertoire with lesser-heard musical treasures by Latvian and Latin American composers,
My Favorite Things reflects a personal musical journey across languages, cultures, and traditions. At its heart is a belief that classical music can transcend borders, connect people, and invite audiences to discover the stories and cultures behind the music.
The project marks a significant milestone as one of the first major classical vocal and art song album projects led by a Kalamazoo-based artist in more than two decades, contributing to the region’s vibrant cultural and artistic life.
