Crafting the Case for an ACGK Grant

This workshop focuses on developing a strong and compelling grant narrative tailored to Arts Council of Greater Kalamazoo funding opportunities. Participants will learn how to clearly define their goals and intentions, articulate a persuasive case for support, and align their project with the priorities of the grant.

Through guided discussion and practical examples, the session will walk through how to decode grant criteria and translate it into a clear plan using the who, what, where, when, and why of your project. Participants will explore how to adjust and refine their project to better fit the grant framework while maintaining artistic integrity.

The workshop will also cover how to align your budget with your narrative, ensuring that financials support your story, as well as how supplemental materials can strengthen and complete your application. Emphasis will be placed on clarity and precision, reinforcing that word choice matters in communicating impact and intent.

By the end of the session, participants will have a stronger draft or framework for their case for support and a clearer understanding of how to present their work effectively within the ACGK grant process.
