Pianist and composer Elio Villafranca was born in the Pinar del Río province of Western Cuba and classically trained in percussion and composition at the Instituo Superior de Artein Havana. Since his arrival in the U.S. in late 1995, he has made an increasingly noteworthy career in the jazz and Latin jazz scenes on both the East and West Coasts. He opens the 2016 Noon Series with his jazz trio, including Peter Savlov on bass and Ferenc Nemeth on drums.

Monday's performance takes place at the Civic Auditorium in Kalamazoo. The Tuesday performance will be held at the W.K. Kellogg Foundation in Battle Creek.

The Auditorium parking lot is located at the corner of Park and Lovell Streets with access from each street. Parking spaces in this lot are reserved Monday through Friday from 7:00am until 6:00pm. Free parking is available in this lot after 6:00pm and on the weekends. On-street parking is available in the area immediately surrounding the Auditorium.
