ARTbreak: Art Needs a Push: A Short History of the KIA by Greg Waskowsky

In many ways, the Kalamazoo Institute of Arts was a creation of the community out of which it grew. Rather than the traditional art museum or art school, it came to be seen as an "art center," a place where the ordinary citizens of Kalamazoo could fully participate in the creation and appreciation art. However, achieving this goal was not without its setbacks and struggles. Join KIA Curator of Special Programs Greg Waskowsky as he traces the events and personalities that mark the KIA's unusual history.
